Mr. Kilmister

Been a while !  Always so busy, workin' over at Eidos now for one, but here's an update.  Painted this a while ago but never finished it. Came back to it now, fixed-up a few things some, added them cheesy sparks and voila!

Achtung... you cunts

Electric Twangers

Here are  a few guitar-weapons I submitted a while back for Gameloft (close to the real thing, but not TOO close) :

And while we're guitarin', why not check out some Paul Kossoff  (ahhh bet you were expecting Iommi or Young or the likes!) :

What the hell, I'm not one to post some Twisted Sister but I remember their videos vividly from when I was a kid so let's give Snider a nod.  The intro is worth it, don't miss 2:13 :

Gangstar IV Environments

A few more environments on Gameloft's Gangstar IV.

This one was part my "newb" first batch of environments, back from the first iteration of the game :

Here's another, an initial proposition for a bank interior.  I like the way this "level" turned out, the 3D guy did a good job with it :

GANGSTAR IV

Gangstar IV is finally out !  It seems to be getting good reviews so that's a bit of a relief, I worked on this for so long.  I look back at some of these pieces and they feel distant now.  Anyway, I can finally share some pics, here's an environment I enjoyed :

A few of the interior shots exploring variations for game-play/views etc.

And here's one of the trailers :

Isle of Mann TT

So it's the end of Isle of Mann TT this week (25th to 7th, the Classic'll be in late August).  I didn't make it across of course, but I will soon.  With any luck me & the brother'll make the roll-call for one of the Classics & go do a once 'round for shits & giggles as amateurs.  Wouldn't wanna go about it 300clicks+ of course, but this is something I should get done.

Isle of Man TT as seen from a Drift HD170 on Vimeo.
This reminds me I need to get back into dirt-bickin' again...

Figured I'ld share an older piece for this occasion.  Not the best, but appropriate at least.

Saïgon Kev

An old college budy and colleague from when I was workin' in Vietnam has recently landed a new job with a somewhat ostentatious title.  While chattin' I mentioned how he was gona need a kepi or some form of official headgear now, and later I figured a painting would be good for a laugh so this caricature of him took form.  I didn't want to ask him for any photos and ruin the surprise so I sorta had to work from the few pics I had, "close enough".

On a sadder note, a friend of mine bought the farm today, been in a coma since Friday night.  Known her about 10 years, she was a couple years younger 'n me as well.  Nothin' much to share really, maybe just a song.  So long Stef.

Ka(th)erine Pass

Another lunch-time study.  I ended-up changing the lighting in a second sitting, added the Mauser, that type of thing.  The girl had the scarf in the ref which got me thinkin' 'bout the desert & growin' up in Tunisia, leading me to Kasserine Pass and, there you go.

Speaking of Tunisia, I've stumbled onto this Star Wars documentary on youtube this week. Over 7 hours worth, for a die-hard fan of the originals like me, this is pretty cool ;) :

SCOUSER !

Here's one for a laugh.  Don't seem to have much leeway to paint anything with humorous/cartoony overtones nowadays unfortunately.  Felt like it was time I dished out at least one caricature, get back into it some.

(Sorry Liverpudlians ;) )

Uncharted-esque

The mrs got me Uncharted 3 a while back and I quite enjoyed it. I mostly travel to check out old buildings, castles, museums, specific artifacts, temples, that type of thing so the game reminded me of a lot of the places I've hit ramblin' on. I ended-up renting out the first two games from work and while rewatching Lawrence of Arabia I figured it'ld be fun to play with an uncharted-esque character of my own. Of course that meant a touch more “bike and pilot” in the mix heh. Might do a final version later, but for now here it be :

I'll often be goin' on about Vincents (there's a '49 Rapide for sale at the moment on ebay for a measly 42K£), but this time I felt like sharing an ol' French bike :

-Release the Hostages-

A bit of acrylic & pencils in the ol' sketchbook to pretend I can still paint "real" art.  Musta been about an hour or less with the white-wash.  From photo.

And here's one for free :

It's Miller Time

There's snow and slush and horror outside and all I can think of is flyin' over to Portsmouth n' ridin' down to Croatia from there...  That being said, here's something I did in 2011 for Modern Combat 3 :

Oro of the Lake

Mostly studies and pieces I haven't pushed to a finish recently. Ah well, but here's something with enough work on it to show. More or less a fanciful portrait of local model Oro. Check her out, she's great to work with (the mrs. has done a couple of shoots with her already) : http://www.facebook.com/ORO.malefico.

About half the water ripples are overlays of a few photos, not super happy with that but it was worth a try see.

*hmm. It appears this is showing very very dark on the internet as opposed to photoshop. Again.  This damned problem is haunting me...
