Skechbook Scratchin's 02

Second instalment, a figure study this time.
Ref'ed from two pictures of the lovely Anna Lee from Suicide Girls.  I'm not sure about the second one but the major photo was taken by Lavezzaro.  *Internet : the poor-man's nude model ! ;) *

The sketch came out a bit dodgy with the scanner so I tried adjusting things a little in photoshop but didn't wanna spend too much time on it, so... It shows up pretty bad down the center where the spine of the book is.  Anyway...  I also added the quote at the bottom left (although the runes were inked by hand).  For those of you who don't read futhark, it says "Muninn", or "memory" (one of Wodan's ravens), followed by "every man is mortal" from the Hávamál.

There she be (acrylics, pencil & ink):

Sketchbook scratchin's 01

For a while now I've been wantin' to set time aside to get a page drawn in everyday in my sketchbook.  Somethin' under an hour, maybe two if I lose track as I tend to do.  Nothin' fancy but it's still complicated to make things happen.  Recently I've only gotten a few in, but it's a good idea none the less so I'm thinkin' I should post a few half-decent ones along the way, maybe force my hand at keepin 'some consistency goin'.  Anyway, here's a chainsaw.  Acrylics & pencils.

Assassin's Creed, Yves Laroche

Went to the Assassin's Creed expo opening at the Gallerie Yves Laroche last night with the same buddies from work.  Yves Laroche use to be in this great local just about 2 or 3 blocks from my place and this was the first time I'ld visited the gallery since they'd moved to their new address.  It doesn't measure up to the old dive's charm unfortunately but I did bump into Jeff Simpson (Simpson's work : surrealsushi) again which was cool.

Other than that I'm swamped at the moment, hard to get any personal work done. I've pretty much accepted that I won't get around to even toying with the Dominance War mini-challenge, and that also means that I think I'm gona go ahead and post on this blog without including, a pic (ooohh the horror).

Game Artisans Comicon/DominanceWarV

Went to the Montreal Game Summit tonight with a couple of buddies from work : Nic Francoeur (check his gear out, it's worth it : avec la langue ) and mister "Padder", Michel Dinel (who turns out also worked with DJ Shwann, small world! : Triggerpad ), checked out the launch for Dominance War V.  I was hoping to participate but I have to polish-up an architecture contract by the end of the month on top of my day-job so I'm doubtful I'll be able to put in the time.  Bummer.  We'll have to see, maybe I can pull a miracle out of my rear-end.

And since this is an art blog and it would suck if I posted without sharing some ; art... I'm gona stay with the Game Artisans theme and post my model sheet + partial workflow sheet from their Comicon Challenge 2010.  This was my take on DC's Lobo with some extra years packed-on.  Apparently I've made it to the finalists list from which the judges will be choosing the head-honchos.  There has been some debate with the 3d choices and so I'm not sure how any of this will turn out (or if this will change anything for us 2d lads), but I'm pretty chuffed about having been selected, even if everything gets turned 'round later.
